The Mile High RETAC was approached by Child Rescue Inc. (based in Aurora Colorado) for assistance with CPR education. Cambodia records 6 drownings a day and has no modern EMS System or citizen CPR Programs.

 

Ken Armstrong (Child Rescue Inc.) is a retired Battalion Chief of North Washington Fire and served as a medic in Vietnam. During his time as a Medic, Ken dealt with numerous sick and injured Cambodian refugees. Once retired, Ken returned to Cambodia to open an orphanage and aid Cambodian citizens in need. To facilitate his mission Ken created a 501c3 organization called Child Rescue Inc. This organization runs the orphanage (provides food, shelter, and staff); assists with general education and computer skills; and lends aid to the surrounding community.

 

In November of 2016 the team of Dave Baldwin (EMS Chief Adams County Fire), Cindi Baldwin (Director of Nursing Compassionate Hospice Care), and Derek Bullen (EMS Officer Adams County Fire) began organizing a Mission to Cambodia.

 

This team acquired donations from: Mile High RETAC, Model UN (Columbus Ohio Chapter), Journey of Faith United Methodist Women’s Group, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Boundtree Medical, AED Authority, Scudder Printing, Adams County Fire, Compassionate Hospice Care, Shirley Terry, Eric Schultz, and the Gore Family. These donations enabled our team to take CPR Manikins, Rescue Throw Bags, Kick Boards, AEDs, Medical Supplies, First-aid kits, Rescue Whistles, and teaching aids to assist a community in severe crisis.

 

During our time in Cambodia we taught at the orphanage, schools, and churches. The gratitude of the people we taught was overwhelming to say the least. All of the equipment and supplies were left in Cambodia so that Sophea Em (Child Rescue - Cambodia Director) can continue teaching throughout the Country year round.
